Position Summary
ConocoPhillips is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to contribute to research and technical service projects in seismic monitoring technology. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of acquisition, processing, and interpretation of seismic data, as well as a basic understanding of reservoir characterization and flow simulation.
Responsibilities
* Participate in internal technology development and joint industry projects * Develop new methods and workflows for time-lapse seismic contributions to reservoir management decisions and reservoir simulation improvements * Collaborate with other specialist throughout the corporation as needed * Collaborate with multi-discipline teams throughout the company to integrate results, influence reservoir management decisions and reservoir model updates * Disseminate knowledge gained through applied research via presentations, reports, courses, networks, we-based knowledge transfer and other avenues of communication
Qualifications
Basic/Required Qualifications
* Legally authorized to work in the United States * PhD in Geophysics or related field * Experience with integrated interpretation or time-lapse seismic analysis * Experience with seismic modeling and rock physics * 5+ years experience in the industry * Able to travel 20% or more as needed
Preferred Qualifications
* 8+ years experience in the industry * Expert knowledge of seismic modeling and rock physics * Familiarity with geocellular modeling and reservoir flow simulation * Experience with optimization or inversion * Ability to fit into multi-disciplinary, multi-national diverse teams very quickly * Ability to plan, implement and manage multiple projects in parallel * Ability to review projects and provide constructive feedback, and to influence key business decisions as a team player and collaborator * Ability to synthesize and communicate concepts through strong written and oral communication skills * Ability to network well inside and outside the company at all levels. Well-developed interpersonal skills with a flexible, diplomatic and open-minded approach with willingness to learn from others. * Commitment to achieving geophysical excellence and promoting functional professionalism.
