RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide consultation and advice to refinery projects, operations, maintenance and inspection functions pertaining to corrosion/materials and fouling control issues
· The primary objective is to maintain and/or improve the safe, reliable operation of plant equipment to increasedplant production, improve equipment efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
· Provide specialist input for the running plant by troubleshooting corrosion problems
· Proactive identification of and recommendations on corrosion related issues to meet business objectives and improve plant reliability for both running plant and new projects
· Involvement in project development activities, including conceptual work and equipment design specifications, to ensure the handling of potential corrosion issues with an appropriate balance of technical and business requirements
· Maintain a refinery-wide corrosion/fouling issues work list that is prioritized on the basis of equipment criticality
· Facilitate regular corrosion/fouling review meetings to develop action plans for addressing high priority issues
· Use life cycle costing techniques to evaluate equipment material options to satisfy business needs
· Provide corrosion and materials expertise for the Business Teams, Maintenance and Inspection
· Evaluate the use of corrosion and fouling mitigation measures to help optimize unit turnaround intervals and eliminate lost profit opportunities
· Participate in refinery equipment failure investigations involving corrosion and materials
· Provide corrosion related input to best practice networks and utilize network learnings to improve the effectiveness of corrosion management in the plant
· Provide input to the upgrading of The Engineering Practices related to experience with corrosion and materials issues in the plant
· Assist with the maintenance of refinery and corporate failure analysis data bases involving corrosion and materials issues
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
· Legally authorized to work in the United States or a regular full-time basis without restrictions
· Working knowledge of refinery process and utility systems
· Awareness of refinery corrosion, fouling, and materials issues
· Work as a part of an inter-discipline team to address corrosion and materials issues
· Proficient in interpersonal relations in order to influence needed system improvements
· Understand and use functional expertise to contribute to the success of the business
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Self starter with the ability to work in a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor of Science Degree in Corrosion Engineer or Metallurgical Engineering
· Five years refinery metallurgy experience
