Refinery Overview

The Trainer refinery is located on the Delaware River in Trainer, PA, about 10 miles southwest of the Philadelphia airport. The refinery has a crude oil processing capacity of 185 MBD and processes mainly light, low-sulfur crude oil.

Console supervisors supervise Area Operations on shift to ensure that units are operating safely, efficiently, and within the Operating Targets. They direct the Operators in performing daily operating functions and in administration of the labor contract, initiate work notifications and communicate operating issues with Area Operations Supervisor, Operations Field Supervisor, Shift Superintendent, and peer Console Supervisors through shift relief and logbooks.

Primary Functions/Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

* Operates process control console to meet operating targets and product specifications.
* Assures that product quality standards are met; examines operator sample test results, requests special analyses, directs operating changes for quality control.
* Exercises direct supervision over operators working in assigned area.
* Issues verbal instructions for safe and efficient operations.
* Coordinates with Area Operations Supervisor and Human Resources in the administration of the contract and labor issues.
* Provides documentation to Shift Superintendent for Incident Investigation initial evidence preservation.
* Works with Operations Field Supervisor and Shift Superintendent to investigate grievances thoroughly and responds to first step.
* Enforces posted offenses.
* Counsels on work performance; recommends disciplinary action as necessary; communicates wage performance issues to Area Operations Supervisor.
* Counsels employees on safe practices; promotes safety.
* Directs and documents start-up and shutdown of facilities using reviewed procedures and coordinating with Operations Field Supervisor.
* Supervises emergency actions required within his/her area of responsibility.
* Maintains full crew and arranges for call out of operators in accordance with Union/Company Agreement
* Checks and approves time sheets. Administers vacation and absence control policies. Evaluates/approves operator requests for change of shift or emergency vacation.
* Conducts Operator Training and Console Training.
* Maintains qualifications through PSM refresher training, MOC training, and Operating Procedure reviews.
* Cross-trains for other control console and Operations Field Supervisor positions.
* Interfaces with Area Operations Supervisor and Operations Field Supervisor regarding operational and mechanical issues as appropriate.
* Initiates Work Notifications for necessary maintenance repairs.
* Coordinates instrument/analyzer work through Planning and I/E department.

Qualifications

Basic/Required Qualifications

* Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
* Valid driver's license.
* High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
* Five years Refinery experience in Operations or Technical Support functions.

Preferred Qualifications

* B.S. or Associates degree in Science or Engineering
* Proven ability to interact with layers of the organization and outside organizations
* Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
* Practical self starter and can work effectively with minimal supervision.
* Organizational skills
* Computing skills
* Consistently displays a high level of personal integrity and self discipline which builds trust and confidence.
